Yesterday I went down to the local ACE store to see if I could get some of that jig-a-loo. Lo and behold there's no way. Vendor out of business, can't get it or order it blah blah blah. So, I have a product on hand that should work but tests would be in order. Here's the rub, I have no test track, only a tuning board and am looking for suggestions on a way to test this product. If, and that's a big if, you wanted to check the stuff out i.e. looking for detrimental effects and or gains and were in my shoes how would you go about it? Maybe pin gages to check wheel bore before and after using for deformation of plastic. How about checking a comparison between jig-a-loo and this product. Your suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance for your input.

If you have an old wheel around, spray some of the product on that wheel to see if it has detrimental effects.

Short of a test track? Do what I do, build it and send it in each month, and run what I call the "Trial by Fire" method. It's worked for me so far.

Good luck with the new product. BTW, Jig-A-Loo is still available, I think some of the guys here even have some for sale. I know Owens Racing had some Legend and Jig for sale not too long ago.

If you are able to look at the MSDS for the product you want to use, see if it contains 5% polydimethylsiloxane. If it does, it will likely work as well as Jig. It might list it on the label as well. I'm assuming you are trying another silicone-based product!

Definitely want to test it on a junk wheel first. I don't know if I would spray it directly, even Jig will melt a wheel if you do that. Spray some in a glass bowl, let it dry 15-20 min, and wipe the residue on a wheel and see if it smears the plastic.

You do? That's excellent, how much and how can I pay you for it? Paypal? Cool, I'll be able to compare the two products head to head. Lookin forward to hearin' from ya..

Oh ya thanks bracketracer sounds like a good experiment. I was also gonna get a #42 drill and bore a junk wheel, apply some product, then recheck the fit to the drill bit see if there's any slop.

Thanks gravityx , Working up the courage to join you guys racing in the league. Need to put at least one more car together first and will probably pick up some boxes from Daddio with my next order.

Pinechopper, a 42 (.0935") drill will fall through a stock BSA wheel bore. You'll need about a 40 (.0980) for a snug fit. I really think you'll know when you apply it, the plastic will come off on the applicator if it's going to be a problem! I just wipe it on the outside with a clean white paper towel.

Next race coming up after this weekend is November 1st & 2nd, hope to see your car there!

Lookin forward to it. I just hope john has the axles i'm lookin for before then so I can get a complete order. Might have to try that tubular car used this past season, just for kicks if you know what I mean. Thanks man
