Need to know if we ran a good 35' track time?

Hey everyone, my son's car ran a high 2.355 on a 35' Best track. He had one run at 2.310 and the other 4 were between the high and low numbers.
I think we could squeeze a little more out of it!
We're running graphite with a 5/8 COM.

Thanks

PS. Looking for some Jigaloo, anyone know where some is that'snot going to break the bank? Saw a thread but it's 2 yrs old.

There's no real way to make a comparison, it's apples-to-oranges. Ramp angle, type of timer, timer position, etc. all change things around. We just had a race on our 35' Best Track, and the fastest run by a standard car was 2.52xxs.

There are a couple guys on this board who have some Jig for sale. They'll probably be along shortly. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

It's difficult to match times from track to track but a scout I helped last year won districts running around 2.46* on a wooden track. So faster than that is "fast".

No, the slope is whatever the person putting the track together set it to. A small change in angle makes a difference in speed. What kind of gate switch they were using and how it was adjusted can make a world of difference also. There's three timer holes punched in a Bestrack, depending on which hole the timer was aligned with makes up to 2" of difference in track length, etc. Lots of variables.

So now I'm confused. There seems to be no options when setting up the track to allow for variations in degrees of slope. The timer was installed in the last set of holes.
So you're telling me is hardcore should be even faster! LOL!

But this year district is running a 42' Best track.
Just curiousto see what'sout there for 35' times.
Great job on the videos bulldog! And congrats on the baby!

The legs of a Besttrack bolt to hinges that can slide in the slots under the track so depending on exactly where the hinges are mounted you can get several degrees of difference in the hill angle. Besttrack's own instructions only specify the location of the hinges so there could be a variation depending on how they're installed. In the track specs Besttrack shows a hill angle of 26 degrees but the league track is set to 27.1 as an example.

On the jigaloo try walmart.com

You're not gonna find Jig-a-Loo at Walmart.com. They do, however, have the Max-Pro Silicone spray, which some are suggesting is a close second if you can't find Jig. Max-Pro also seems to be less noxious of a product.

Walmart Canada has it. Don't know if they will ship to the States. Tru value also has it on their site

The ramp angle on our track was 26.0 - 26.2 this time. The legs apparently got knocked out of position, and I didn't have time to fix it before our race. We use a Racemaster IV timing system, which uses a wand under the start gate to start the timer.

And just as with the legs, the start gate is mounted in the slots, and has a slight bit of variance back and forth in the mounting location available to it.

Every track is different.

Thank you very much, he is so dang great. I have to choose when it's PWD time at night after work and he is winning right now, lol.

Sounds to me like a man with his priorities straight!
