Hey guys

I'm been lurking on the forums the past couple of weeks reading all the info that's shared on these great forums. I'm taking the plunge and building 2 SS cars for the June race. As I'm just dipping my toes in the pond I had John at DD4H drill my first blocks to my desired specs. I figured there is no sense not starting out on a rock solid platform as I learn. The first 2 cars are already done and I've begun my testing/learning curve. The axles and wheels are from DD4H (the wheels are the new Cheetah's that John talked about in another thread that I had on testing yesterday) I'm also following the DVD for the proper oil techniques. I'm going to showing the progression through some videos and am hoping to have the first one ready tonight. Looking forward to racing with you guys. I'm just another Dad that caught the bug after my sons first PWD!

Welcome!! Way to jump right in the fire!! The nationals is going to be a great super competitive race. It sounds like your on the right track for success!!

Congratulations and welcome to the National PineWood Derby Racing League. June will be a great event and as QT said a "super competitive race". It will give you a good idea as to where you are at in your building process. Hang around for awhile and enjoy your time spent here, it's fun and very addictive. See you on the track.

I have the video from the first test finished. I've got to say the DD4H products are above and beyond what I had hoped for with this first round of testing. Next will be adding the fenders to the car. I can see how this can be addicting! Right now I'm not trying to re invent the wheel, just working on my tuning.

awesome job! Either the wheels are really performing or I am getting faster because I slapped a car together yesterday and it ran a 2.948 with no fenders!!! I think 2.93's are right around the corner!

Nice! I need to stop by and try some of those wheels with my new car.

Looks like you got a new track in the background? Sweet.

Is that a new track or just more lanes for the existing track? Going six wide maybe?

As someone new to all this I must say I was very impressed with the quality of product that is readily available. For my first car I had John (DD4H) drill the block then used all the products available on his site. I followed the DVD to a tee and read and re read all the great posts on these forums. I plan to drill my own blocks in the future, but I felt like I'd be chasing my own tail if I didn't start with a solid base. The very first time down the track the car did a 2.967. Once I fine tuned on the tuning board it got down to the time in the video. I come in from other forms of motorsports where you need the "special" motor or other products you don't get or that you spend an arm and a leg to get. I'm looking forward to learning and testing more it's been great combing over all the old posts!
