Impressive, I've always wondered why the BSA hasn't pushed the STEM aspects of Pinewood Derby, and I think it's nice to see a positive article on the subject.

If we had more of this, maybe we would have less push-back on running 3 wheel cars and oil.

Of maybe some of scouting's staff is still too set in their ways....
 
Great write up! Our school district holds a "STEM" program for the surrounding Cub Scout packs. It is organized and ran by the high school seniors. They do an awesome job. When my son and I built his car this year, It was interesting to hear him giving ideas he wanted to incorporate from the program. Mostly from the airplane aerodynamics, down force and lift and how could he make that work. Coming from an 8yr old, I thought that was pretty cool.
