I want to thank you for adding me to the forum, I am a dad of 3 girls ranging 13,10 & 8. My kids are active in the church which brought upon the AWANA PWD race each year. I have been helping my kids build their cars for 2 year now. The first year my oldest wanted a pickup truck, so we made a low profile pickup and put the weight in the bed and spent maybe a little time on the wheels and axles, not knowing much at all. We were both happy it went down the track all night and she placed third, overall she thought it was cool and fun. After that race we caught the PWD fever and wanted to find out how to go faster. I started researching and making notes, the second year my oldest didn't want to do run again and my middle daughter wanted a fast car. This time I had her decide the body she wanted, which was a low profile stock car. We drilled out the underside to make it as hollow as possible, placed the weight in the back and spent many nights together making sure the wheels/axles were straight, polished & waxed. Rules state all 4 have to be on the car so we made it with all four touching with graphite. Every race she ran she was a consistent 2.59-2.63 on what i believe was a 32 or 35 ft aluminum track and she won every race placing first in speed, she was proud of the car she built. This brought back my oldest wanting to run again and now my youngest will be running too this year. We now have 3 cars to build in the garage and dad might even be building some for his own. Thank you for this forum and the wealth of knowledge it brings.
