Folks here's a photo of the grand champion trophy and my sons car that won the highly competitive New Horizons district's scout PWD race last weekend. There were more than 400 cars (from all over West county in St. Louis) racing on two 6 lane besttracks simultaneously before the top 25 from each track raced on the same track in the finals.

We had a great time building the car and enjoyed the racing. Thanks for all the tips and discussions mentioned here.

Hey Maglev, have you heard anything about a STL council race? Heard a rumor that the top 2 or 3 winners at each district qualified for council race. Still have not heard anything from Scout leader yet.

Thanks folks.
HMH - no that's the first time I've heard of a STL council race. If not the council there's always the National Mid-America race. We'll be going there live this year! Looking forward to meeting all of you who can make it.

Papa V - my son was thrilled and shocked when his name was announced as the winner. It's his last year of cub scouts as he's a Webelos 2 and we had wished he'd go out at the top. Mission accomplished!

QT - surely I'll be back at the Nationals probably too late to get into the 3rd race of the current series! Was too busy with the scout PWD workshops (hosted one every week of Jan) then our pack race followed by district race, track setup, etc. Now I am finally relaxing a bit! In between had to present a poster at a science Keystone conference too. Life was too hectic!

I heard about the New Horizons being competitive. What was times like for most of the cars? Was it a 35 Track? Where in the Gravios Trails District and I was wondering if there was going to be Council race or not. There was an independent one 2 years ago at Beaumont. It doesn't matter now my son has crossed over and I'm hanging up my PWD jumpsuit. Congrats on your BIG win.

Maglev,
Congratulations to you and your Son. I had no Idea it was competitive in the New Horizons District.

Do not stop now. I hope you can find a Construction Company to sponsor you with $500 for the Greater St. Louis Area Council Construction Derby stlbsa.kintera.org/2015PinewoodDerby

I would like to see you continue to show the NH District Committee "good ole boys club" how to build a fast, legal car.

Guess what, I was recruited to build a car for one of the construction companies a day before the district finals, so I am looking forward to it!

Mission accomplished, guess there's a new sheriff in town. Laid down a spanking by more than a car length, should have seen their faces!
