NPWDRL 2013 Race #1 January!!!

I am watching this race and I am curios about the track, what is the length? I see times a just under 3.0 but mph about 215. my boys car ran 3.35's raning from 224-230 mph.

In league racing, we pay almost no attention to the MPH. Your odd results or observations are probably a function of the software. But only the time vs length are important.
Our tracks are BestTrack 42'
Any BSA people who enter their cars (which would be in Amature class) can be very proud of a time under 3.0. The excellent times you see on our results are from builders who have usually been around a long time and have learned the tricks of preparation, some of which are probably secrets known only to individual builders.

However, that being said, put your questions on this forum and you will seldom (almost never) be misled.

The league track is a 42ft but that is the over all length. I believe the pin to sensor length is around 37ft. So it you put in your software that the race length is 42ft you will get higher MPH. Get the correct length and those speeds will come down.

John,

Thanks for posting the race video, it really helps me to be able to replay and see what my car is doing. Every little bit of information helps.

damn that was awesome to watch....you know ur hooked when you can sit and watch little wooden cars going down a track and the next thing you look up and its already 40 minutes later......

That is what we call getting bit by the PWD "Bug".

Keep in mind that different timers have different chips to calculate the speed and times. My pack has the same brand timer and track as the NPWDRL. Our timer has the old chip which registers faster times. The only way to truley see how you are running is to send in a car. I can remember my first proxy race, I was sandwhiched between LA Sound (DD4H) and Carolina Gravity. This was before oil....lets just say it was a learning experience.

This was the first car I ever raced proxy;

Reso it could be worse my first run with ECD with graphite and them using oil was with DD4H White Mtn. and CGS not a good result needless to say. But I was hooked on redemption at that point....
