Is oil on its own on a bare axle without Jig A Loo or anything still faster than graphite on an axle that's been prepped with Pledge? I've never done oil before and have been nervous to start; I don't have any Jig A Loo or DuPont Chain Saver but was wondering if a couple drops of DD4H Holy Water on a bare axle would still be faster than graphite.

As long as you polished your axles, I would say yes. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve used graphite, so I’m not sure how fast it can be, however, I do know that oil is much faster; faster enough that I don’t think you need Jig-a-loo to beat graphite.

We shifted to oil before we were aware of Jigaloo. I agree with tbone. It’s faster and consistent and doesn’t make a mess. Do good cleaning with dawn and dry between. Inspect with a magnifying glass to make sure all lint, etc is off. Good luck.

To confirm, you're saying that after axles are polished, to clean well with dawn and dry before applying oil?

Yes that is what we do. Clean and inspect after we’re done with everything “mechanical”. Then we treat with jig then oil. Or without jig skip to oil. It’s amazing what a little q tip lint can do to your time.

oh rise off the Dawn and a little goes a long way

Thanks a lot guys; first time using oil was a success except for the fact that somewhere in the middle of the application process I managed to tip over the open bottle of Holy Water and lost most all of it. Fortunately I had enough to do the three cars. Thanks Again!!

been there... done that... 4 times!!!!

Now I transfer all my oil into plastic applicator bottles with metal tips. It lets me apply my oil precisely where I want to. And when I knock it over, time and time again, I don't lose any

By chance do you have a link to the application bottles you are using?

yes... get the 25 or 27 gauge plasticators, from Amazon, or something similar to that.... the 18 gauge dumps a lot of oil onto the axles, where the smaller gauges let you apply the oil in the amounts that you can control better.
