Old Style BSA Wheels

I mentioned in another thread about using old style wheels for my lifted wheel.... This allows me to make the lifted wheel very small in diameter and has less of a profile than a full sized new BSA Wheel.... I didn't mention that you can also cut these for your other 3 wheels. They have a concentrated mass on the ID so they should be faster... well they are faster by about .005 for me....

This car has 2.0 gram wheels, three wheels are standard diameter and the lifted (right front) is around 1.050 diameter.

Thanks Scott. I had suspected that the old wheels would be faster with the mass being more towards the center. Just watch, now everybody will be looking for old wheels. lol Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I think I still have some of the old wheels.

They'll be commanding a premium before you know it.

P.S. I know I have a bunch of them. /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif

Here's another one, but this time I cut the wheels so I didn't have to run them reversed. It is fast as well, but I haven't ran it yet at a race... Good luck....

Hi, I see in your picture that the rear Delrin washer is not attached to the car. Do you normally attach the washers with super glue or is this just something you need to do yet?

3/8" thick in the rear tapered to nothing in the front.... almost all of my cars are 3/8" thick because of the weight I use.

Brilliant! The wheel idea rocks!
If you don't mind me asking;
What type of weight do you use?
Also, In the first photo is the blue disc inside the rear wheel a Delrin washer?
Thanks so much for the info.

I use tungsten cubes or carbide tungsten inserts.... we probably have 600 lbs of used inserts here at my work, the trick is finding ones that work in pwd cars. The ones you see in the pictures are 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/8" thick and I have to use (9) of them for (2) ounces... So my cars are 3/8" thick at the rear....

It is just blue paint on the wheels to add a little flare.... I don't think it is a speed secret/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif
