? On SR

I used clear packing tape stuck to itself. Don't know wether it was right or wrong but it worked.

I believe you can use tape, vinyl, or whatever for the windows. The org. windshield means the org location can't be modified, removed, etc. Will let Daddo chime in but I think that is what is mean by the rule.

My kit I bought for my street rod had a windshield and a rear window, but no side windows. I can make my own for those right? Rules state that original windshield must be used, but says nothing about the rest of the windows.

From the Street Rod rules: "Original windshields (convertables), roofs, doors, fenders, grills, hoods, trunks and main body parts must be used (No chopping up, stretching, piecing together or hacking the body). No drilling out or cutting holes in the back of the car. Tail lights need to be attached."

Looks to me like they were referring to a convertible? I read that to mean that you couldn't build a convertible and omit the original windshield to streamline it.

For my latest build I used the original windshield and other glass. For the side windows that were left open I used thin lexan cut and molded to fit. I feel like having a rigid surface there might perform better than tape or vinyl even despite the small weight trade off.

Seems logical to me.

You could also do it on a hard top. Leave all the windows out and just put a cover over the inner body than you have the air going through and not over.
