One final (hopefully) question

On one of our cars (3 wheel railriding), looks like we're a few grams short.

My question is; would placing the additional weight off center a bit (on the side that I'm steering towards) help it steer that way a little bit more? Or should I just center the weight?

If you have weighed the DFW on this car and it is more than 16 grams, I would just place the weight as far back as possible.

To answer your question, yes adding weight offset on the side of the FDW toward the rear will add some weight to the DFW. Added weight will create more grip/bite for tha DFW, but it really does not "add" steer to the car. Especially if you already have 18 grams or more on that FDW.

Clear as mud?

For clarification, the FDW is the wheel that rides up against the rail. So if your FDW is the right front, the car actually steers left into the rail. Again, a RFDW car steers left against the rail.

Putting it off center in the back would probably (minutely) improve rear wheel balance, but its impossible to know without knowing the relative rear wheel loads.

If I said I had 20 grams on the DFW would that make sense, or too much and I probably didn't weight it correctly?

I thought I remembered that you had 20-22 grams of FDW weight on the other cars. So that is why I I stated to put the weight as far back as possible. You are trying to increase your potential energy by doing so. At 20 grams you have plenty of weight on the DFW and it will have the needed bite to maintain the steer you have set.

Good luck racing. Let us know how it goes. Remember to have some fun!
