This is my 14 year old daughter’s 2013 entry for her Girl Scout Powderpuff Derby. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

. . . inspired by Chief’s car “Patriot”

Some people like the shape, other’s say it looks like a spoon. I happen to like the shape and it worked well with a tungsten round we had lying around.

“America”

Yes please, let's allow more 14 year old girls to instruct Chief on how to build great looking (and I have to believe FAST) PWD cars !

Just curious: What are you using for weight? With the back end enclosed like that, I'm guessing lead.

We used a 3.6oz 1" tungsten round with 1/4" and 3/16" tungsten cubes for fine tuning.

My 14-year-old daughter did well. She won two design awards and finished first place in speed in the Cadette/Senior/Ambassador class. She placed 3rd overall out of 75 Girl Scouts, behind her two younger sisters who placed 1st and 2nd. This was my first time running/hosting a race. It was a long day and everyone was tired afterwords. I now have a new appreciation for John and Co. for how much work is involved in running these races. Can't imagine what it would be like running 200+ cars.

Ah yes . . . I've seen a picture of this car before and this is probably where we got the inspiration for the shape. Nice looking car Kinser!
