Our scout pack only allows white Teflon lube. Any cars lubricated with black graphite or any other lubricant ahead of time will be disqualified. They will apply the white Teflon lubricant at check-in. I've read that white Teflon lubricant is slower than no lubricant. What is everyone's opinion? Thanks!

I've only ever dealt with that stuff once. A kid came to a test and tune session with a car that had been lubed with the white teflon. I don't know if it was the lube's fault, or if it simply didn't have enough applied, but the wheels would buzz madly (shakes from lack of lube) about halfway down the flat, slowing it by tons. I added graphite to it, and it ran great after that.

I would say treat the axles with Pledge, and then take their white stuff like everyone else.

I agree, Pledge the axles and Red Rocket the wheel bores. That by itself might be faster than the teflon lube.

I agree with PacFanweb. Make sure you do a good polish job on the hubs as well. I got better times when I intentionally made sure I did a good polish job on the hubs.

Or you can check your car in last to see if everyone is using the Teflon lube. If everyone is using the Teflon lubt than you can assume that everyone will have an equal disadvantage and go with the lube.

It is unfortunate that you pack has this rule.

I would guess that the reason for this rule is an effort to keep the track clean by avoiding the graphite mess.

Although, it could be an effort by someone to handicap everyone else...

The pack prohibits graphite because of the mess. Some people ruined it for the rest of us. I applied out graphite at home. At check-in, we checked weights, adjusted if needed, and made some test runs. Other people were applying graphite at the check-in, which made a mess of the church's tables.
