Paint and Finish Ideas?

Yes, they (Createx) have awesome colors. awesome pearls, brights and neon's. Easy to cleanup. I just haven't mastered their clear yet. Working on it. Have fun with them.

Forgot to add, it takes a bit of getting used to the best ratio of paint, 5012 and 5030. With too much 5012 it dilutes the paint a bit much. I ended up making a mix of 5 parts paint, 4 parts 5030 ans 1 part 5012. They recommend a .5 nozzle but I only had a .66. It worked ok. I let it flash 20 min. between coats. Later after hard I sealed with MIX OF 10%5012 and 90% 5620 clear. again still trying to perfect that clear process. I did 3 coats of paint followed by two of sealer but felt I needed a third sealer coat? Enjoy.
I 've had good luck shooting water based polyurethane through my airbrush as the clear coat.

Txs, that is kind of what the Createx 5620 is but I think I need more coats or try a different brand? What brand did you use?

Minwax gloss from one of the big box stores.

I have used Createx paints as well over the years, and have had great results with them. I have noticed it likes a little heat in-between coats, and makes a huge difference on the dry time. Once I figured that out I have always used my heat gun. Just don't get to close and keep it moving. Lol, I learned the hard way.

Yes they do take a bit of drying time if shot fairly wet. I have a Micro Mark oven I use and it will allow low heat without smoking your part. A little pricey but fun. Txs!

Thanks, hadn't thought a lot about that. The oven only gets to maybe 100 degrees but maybe that could be enough?

It's the "shot fairly wet" then putting it in an oven that would worry me a little, at least until I checked a few after drying? If the water soaks it and then is drawn out unevenly I could see where it might warp the body. Since you're using an oven I'm thinking it will draw out the water all around so you may have no problem at all. Check the drill before and after and see it get messed up. If it still looks good, carry on!

I tape off the wheel/axle locations to keep sealer and paint away from axle holes and wheel contact areas, then seal the car with Createx Auto Borne Sealer. A few light coats with flash in between. You can reduce the sealer with 4012 about 10% or to your airbrushes liking. They recommend a .50 tip set up. I have a .66 on my airbrush and it seemed to work fine. When really dry, you can paint with whatever Createx color you wish. I mixed mine 50% paint, 10% 4012 and 40% balancing clear 4030. Paint several layers letting flash in between layers. You do NOT have to oven dry if worried about the warping issue. Then once really dry again you can clear with a few coats of gloss 5620, which you can cut with 10% 4012. Let flash between layers. Then let dry overnight to be sure it is good and dry before handling and then either sand with really fine sandpaper like 2500 or just leave it be. Some folks would maybe hand buff and wax? Again the acrylics will dry fairly fast and once the raw car body is sealed with the auto borne base sealer, it shouldn't soak any paint or clear at all. And again, it can dry without an oven if worried. P.S. Since the acrylics dry pretty fast I flushed my airbrush between coats. You may not have to. Have fun! The Createx Wicked line of paint has many awesome colors.
