1. 5" Wheelbase. 1/16" separation from track edge, both front wheels, equadistant on each back wheel from track edge, but at least +1/8 separation from track. Rears should never touch track during run.
2. If body is not parallel, wood body was not cut properly.
3. However, even though body not parallel, make it so in staging, but next time cut a new body so 1. and 2. work out.
I'm with Joel. I like the looks of the 4.75 wheelbase the most. The cars that win SS have been anywhere from 4 3/8 to 5 1/8 that I've seen. So I guess it doesn't really matter. Tune accordingly and win!!!!!
For the last Man of the Mountain race, the car I entered in SS AM had a long wheel base of 5-1/2". It ran smoothly (no wiggles) and a good average time. I'm thinking of building a second SS AM car and will probably have two sets of front axle holes drilled. 4-3/4" and 5" and see which wheelbase is quicker. - Steve
