Okay I was trying to sand wheels to smooth them out but I got a line on the outside of the treads. I don't know if it is Factory defect or if it's something I screwed up. I don't want to do anymore if I'm messing it up. anybody have any advice they are Revell pinewood derby wheels. The tread is smooth just has these bumps or almost air pockets underneath the top layer of plastic. And I think if I send far enough to get rid of them the wheels will be too small her out of limits

Just a guess but maybe try a higher grit sandpaper?

I may be wrong but it looks like you were using 50 or 60 grit in that picture. Maybe it was too course?

Lets see what others have to say

Your melting the wheel. You are better off un-touching the wheels if you don't have the proper equipment. If you can't budget a lathed set of wheels, look for a set of good mold #'s and leave the tread alone. I like 2,8,9, & 14's

Okay QuickTimeDerby I have a set of twos that I can use but I may just practice with the set that I have started with maybe I was pushing too hard or have the speed up too high. it'll give me something to play with. thank you.

Yes I figured it out I was pushing way too hard and turning the wheel way too fast. This one came out like glass. Thank you for the help as always.
