I need a quick show of hands from you guys out there.

How many of you are Proxxon Drill Press TBM 220 115 owners and use them on a regular basis when drilling bodies?

EDIT: Error on model number, oops!

I own one. I use the XY table though. And they are NOT flat, Had to shim the crap out of mine!!!!

Not only does this not address his concern but now amplifies it by turning the xy table into a pivot point negating his intended purpose.

Interesting poll results thus far, keep them coming in! Liking the feedback so far.

So apparently the X-Y Table is NOT the way to go. I'm keeping that in mind!

Gravity X looking at the poll is the top racers IN the 33% or in the 61%? That has me thinking now. LOL

I bought a used Proxxon off of Amazon a while back, back because it was way off, didn't want to even spend the 60% of new price for that, so I sent it back. I also bought the Microlux DP from Micro-Mark which has some better paper specs than the Proxxon. I had that table milled, but once you detach the vertical post, there's no guarantee you can get it back on within 4% of where it was ... They use a special tool/procedure to do that, but like the others, make zero guarantees in their specs as to how plumb the assembly will be (which is what I care about most).

In the end, I shimmed a granite block on top of a 'regular' drill press, get it within 1/2 of a tenth in four spots and don't need any of these specials.

Wish I could tell you, I seemed to have locked myself out of the being able to see who voted where (what a newb I am), it's truly an anonymous vote.

I thought about getting a drill press now that I have a Block, but would I be at any disadvantage in drilling accurate holes for my rear wheels by getting one from Sears or Harbor Freight?

The biggest thing with any drill press, is getting the table square to the quill/spindle before starting out.

I bought a cheap Ryobi today at Home Depot along with their band saw. The chuck fell off the drill press within the first minute of use. But, I hammered it back on and will give it another chance.

I need to make a fence I can bolt on to the table. Clamps get in the way.
