Ranking Points System

Can someone explain the points system and how that works. I know last month the points were much higher than they are now. Just trying to understand how this system works for points. I'm not worried about where I stand or the points I get as I'm more or less racing against my own times month to month, just wondering how it works. Thanks

I think Chips took a screwing in Unlimited (the only class that matters)
He and Kinser tied for 10th, but he has less points now. Neither raced last month in that class.

Also, just so I am clear...If one builder has more than one car in a class, he only gets points for his highest finishing car. The other car gets skipped over and the next builder gets the points for that place?
So, if I understand this, if QT sends in 10 cars and finished first through tenth and I send in one car and finish 11th, I would get 2nd place points for my abysmal 11th place finish? Hmmmm. That would deter me from sending in multiple cars to block others in the points. Just a thought.....

I agree. I dont think you should be punished if you have the skills to build multiple cars that win 1st-5th. I also dont think it's fair if people send in 20 cars. Maybe limit the amount of cars 1 person can send in, but also dont punish them if it wins 1st-5th. At the same time, dont reward someone who's gets 6th. Maybe don't reward the person who won 1st-5th with multiple points, but give the next guy who got 6th, 6th place points instead of 2nd place points.

So if you took 1st-3rd and I got 4th, but was awarded 2nd place points and overtook you for points overall you wouldnt be bothered?

There is a reason for everything. If I build 5 cars and drive everyone elses points down then everyone else will not race after a month or two because they will be out of the points race. It is essentially buying a title. I want to build a league full of different builders not full of cars from a few builders. I want to see a good points race to the very end. I will fix Chips points. Didn't see the tie.

Would you be bothered if you could only afford one car and it came in first, and I had 5 cars that came in 5th-10th. Would you be ok with me leading you in points?

???????

I think when you take a few more minutes to look at it ODD, I think you will find this part of the system good. The points are ranking the owner/builder, not the car. If the second place owner is sitting in 11 place 'cause the first place owner holds 1-10, then the second place owner gets second place points.

there are several reasons for an owner to send multiple cars. First there is the obvious luck factor, Second, the draft/suck for lack of better terminology issue. If your only car ends up by vacume mobile, it can be sucked back some taking it out of "rightful" place. with several cars, you can decrease the chance of gutting sucked, or increasing your chance of racing beside another fast car of your own for good draft.

If you're in the middle of the pack you can get pulled along by fast car's. One reason I'be been sending multiple ss's is casue I don't have a track so I need to do testing/racing at same time.

In other seasons I believe, if the top 4 owners went to the finals, all of the owners cars went to the finals, If your JBD, QT, Pony then there is a great chance of winning 'cause if the 4th was me, I wouldn't be slowing them down as often because they would be besided themselves more often.

JM2C, don't know if it made any though.

makes sense. I'm in the same boat. I only send multiple cars in because I have no idea what I'm doing and trying different things on each.

I send in multiple cars sometimes just to see how they do on the league track. Generally I have one good car going, but I am working on a couple more to try to get them to equal to the best one. I have a single lane test track, and it gives me a good idea, but it is not as good a test as seeing the same car compete with others on a multiple lane track. I also create a ratio between my own track's test times vs. the league track. The ratio is always better with more than one car's times. Interestingly, the ratios change quite a bit from class to class, but are nevertheless consistent within the same class.

You wouldn't lead. You would have points for 5th and only 5th. What I am saying is the guy who came in 11 in your example would get 11th place points, not 6th place points. No one would get the points for 6th through 10 because the same builder took those spots.
