What a day! I spent until 5:30 tonight helping another Pack with their cutout party. The host is a very nice gentleman whose sons are out of college but still hosts the cutout partys for local Packs to help them have a place to use a bandsaw, drill press and disc/belt sander. The host is awesome and very helpful for basic builds. I help do the "advanced speed tricks". Now that you guys are dying of laughter, here are some of my favorite quotes for the day.

1. "I didn't know we were making jewelry" (after polishing up to 60,000 grit and Brasso with stock nails)

2. "Sandpaper grits go that HIGH?!?"

3. "Mister, can you help me do my axles?" (after Dad said they were good enough out of the box)

4. "Your from the Pack that beat us last year? You're trying to sabotage us!" (Cubmaster and host started laughing)

5. "You know they have a word from my day about what you are doing" (Grandpa said this to me when learning I was from another Pack. I responded that it was called craftsmanship)

By the end of the day, the boys had learned a lot about building the cars and craftsmanship. The boys learned about different grits and their feel, how to use a file correctly, balancing their cars, weighting their cars, and building in general. Did they learn everything? Not a chance. Although, I did point them towards 5kids workshop document to help teach them. One father immediately got out his iPhone and found that I was teaching them exactly as it was explained. I had to caution them against building a 3 wheeler as our District rules mandate 4 wheels rolling. All in all it was a fun day. Thanks to all you guys for your advice. Too bad we are limited to graphite or teflon.
