Lookin' good! Those are some tight fitting fenders!

Out of curiosity, where does your handle, "Safer Racer" come from?

I have a low-budget build I'm currently hacking on, that I plan to send to BASX for "benchmarking".

Our Name Safer Racer comes from a company my father & I had in the 90's
"Safer Racer Motorsports Safety Gear". I have been in the auto racing and Gokart racing industrious all my life.
If you watch Kart Life on TRU TV Wed. nights at 9:00pm you can see what I do. We are a distributor of Bridgestone
Karting tires & Topkart Chassis. ALSO if you crash a Pinewood Derby car it a lot safer -- hence the name Safer Racer.

That's a sweet car!!
Good luck to you and the boy with the races.

The yellow wheels are John's Basxs . The Tech guy had a real problem with them being yellow. We went back and forth for 3 minutes until the next kid in line show him his red wheels. I Put 2.0 Cheetah's on for round #2 of the ICE race. They should be fine for are District race ---They are BLACK L.O.L. They also thought the wheel washers were glued to the wheels to make them heavier and faster. I had to pull the wheel to show them. They did not know what to say. Our car finished 1st. We also built 2 other cars for scouts that finished 2nd & 3rd.

I also built the same car with no fenders or wheel weights. It's are back up--Just incase. It will run in Basx's next week as well.
We sent in a total of 4 cars----- 3 Basx's & 1 Street Stock. What's really funny is are fastest car in Basx's "Half-Fast" was to be our back
to the one in the picture. It finish 4th in the Governor Class in Dec. & 9th last race in Basx's. I my be rethinking this whole thing in a week.

It funny the guys at check in were thinking the wheel washers were part of the wheel, and that a heavy wheel would run faster, LOL. Good luck at the race, your car looks very nice!

YES --- We can only teach the people that want to be taught and having a mindset that says we've been doing it this we since
1962 doesn't help. Don't get me wrong rules are good but teaching the kids to be creative and explore new things is what we
need to be doing.

unless your rules are kit rules where it states you have to use everything from the kit, the color wheels are still official BSA wheels. So, even if you bought them from John or the store, they're still legal. We've used color wheels every year. Even this year his wheels are colored. This year we couldn't modify the wheels at all, which is ridiculous, but we still bought the mold matched colored wheels.
