O.K guys, i have a serious question. How many of you have stopped sending in for SS because you feel it's too long and hard to build the Balsa fender car? Follow up question is how many would start sending in again if i made a step by step video of how to build one quickly and efficiently with one piece trailing rear fenders? I have the process down to about 1.5 hours of fender work. If I can get 10 guys to commit to join in and race this class again if I make the video i will do it.

Heck yeah, with an offer like that I'm in. Anything to see another feature video from Bulldog Productions. Make it a pg version. Maybe you could add some violence, like throwing a pwd car that doesn't behave across the room. Or better yet add guns. Launch a misbehaving car in the air and shoot it with a 12 ga.

I'm in! Already started with the new build & a new video from Bulldog productions "secret to success" will definitely help! I'd also like to see the same turn out in SS as we did in BASX... Get that camera fixed Bulldog, we're waiting!

For the lower and mid-pack racers:

Don't be disillusioned that if this video is made, you will all of a sudden be competitive in this class. You're not, and neither am I. Its unlikely that you will significantly change your overall relative place to the other racers around you. You will get faster (no doubt about that), but, SS is a challenging class (maybe the most challenging) and almost all of the top racers compete there.

I would guess that people do not send cars into other classes because of the time that needs to be invested and the concentration/mastery of a particular class. In my case, I do not race street pro because I know my prep is not good enough. I learn more by eliminating variables. Street pro adds a new set of additional variables I'm not ready for. This is the same reason I do not race box stock; too many additional variables added to the existing SS class. I certainly would understand if someone only races in BASX with the intention of mastering that class, and then address the aero-dynamic variables associated with the SS (and box stock) class in the future.

BUT - you do have to build to be fast.

That being said and now that I have finished my rant: make the video. I certainly do not want to spend 8 hours just making fenders, but then again, that might be a necessary evil for some do to the meticulous nature of the perfect fender itself. You can not rush perfection, but you can work smarter. I'm a dumb guy and a video would help immensely. I enjoy them just as much I enjoy the podcasts. I'm with Let'emRun, maybe a good action sequence in there, car chase, some violence, mild nudity, and some suggestive language. Maybe even a bloopers reel at the end.

I like the idea of a car chase scene and bloopers reel, but mild nudity? Man, I love bulldog, but I do NOT want to see him in a bikini!

Ya, I don't think we need to see Bulldog even mildly naked!

I would be interested in seeing a video of fender making also. I built a few cars with those fenders already, I just haven't sent them, been too busy to finish the rest of the cars!

I am not racing SS that much because to be competitive I feel you need to have the X3 style fenders and any new technology that comes out. While a video would be nice to see how the X3 fenders are made, I don't have the time or building skills to make them, so, I will end up buying a drilled car with X3 fenders.. Now if there were premade balsa fenders available or plastic glue on X3 style fenders available I would build more cars for this class and most of the other racers would probably use them too.

Like B-Regal-Racing, I am concentrating on my wheel and axle prep and since it is quick and easy to build BASX cars, that is where my focus is.

I plan on sending in soon. I made some balsa fenders and am going to make a few more cars. I am for any video. Watching how someone else does something always is helpful! Thanks for your videos! Having made one myself, I think that the trick is getting the middle section correct on the DFW side. You need to have planned for the axle bend that you are using with the same final axle diameter and same diameter wheel and have the car tuned before making the fenders. I wish I would have used the proper parts before I started making my set with a standard BSA wheel and axle.

This is exactly why I've been hesitant to attempt full fenders on my most recent car, I was contemplating using two standard fenders and making a cut on both pointed sides and blending them together with a balsa stick. Not sure that's a viable method, would sure like to learn a better method.

Yes this would be AWESOME!!! I would send 2 more SS cars that would put me a 4..
Probably would make me get more SS wheels and build more.. YOU ROCK BULLDOG!!!

Bulldog! As you can see your videos have acquired quite a following probly' not that "yuuuge" to scare the one who shall not be named, but enough to justify a new camera without the zoom crackling sound effects (that sound like your son is playing with a BSA wheel on a table). Else you could do a complete digital audio voice over in a computer with a background sound track and effects thrown in. I'd nominate Bulldog Productions Studio for the next PWD Oscars - Heck Ya, you Betcha!!

You might wanna check with LightninBoy - heard he was also planning on making a video of how he does his balsa X3 fenders!

Alright guys, lets do this thing. I bought a new camera today, sorry it's still a low end one, I can't dip in too far to the PWD fund. You'll have to bear with the poor camera and focus on the gem! I'll try and do it this weekend, for now get some balsa!

is the additional side material from the full fenders worth that much speed as
opposed to leading and trailing fenders? I am setting up some MA cars with
leading and trailing fenders, but wonder should i go full fender?

If you want to get everything out of the car, the answer is yes. If you look closely at the full-fenderd cars, the leading and trailing edge of the fenders are centered on the wheel and not the body. This is to allow the air to flow equally around both sides of the wheel. That means the fender terminates some distance from the body, maybe about 1/4".

It takes too long to prep wheels too.... Can we get a video of your process as well....
