Shipping a Street Rod

Fired Up, here is what I do, pretty much make a big size DD4H shipping container. Buy a shipping box from K-mart [ 9.5 x 6 x 3.75] then exercise floor mat foam from Sports Authority [ 1 in and 1/2 in] , sometimes I glue them together to make right depth so wheels don't touch. Route foam out in shape of your car. Cut wheel holes. Then on top I buy 1 inch foam from fabric store. Cut these pieces up to fit over top, enough pieces to gentily push down on top of car, so there is no movement. Then I put this box in a Reso type shipping container box [ that he so wonderfulily shared with us on an earlier post ]. Sofar have not had any car damaged to this point. Maybe Opa and Stonecold can share their method ,or anyone else that has successfully shipped their Street Rods to the races.....SPIRIT/////

I use DD4H 9'' legend boxes and have never had any damage. They work great, just take a little extra time on the pieces of foam that hold your car in so there is'nt too much pressure on your body. I like to use spray adhesive on the top foam blocks to secure them to the box lid . This way they stay right where you need them.

I have a 12 x 12 box, about 3 in high. I went to Hobby Loby, and bought 3 thicknesses of foam ( one 2" thick and one 1 inch high). I made it to ship 2 SR cars. The 2" has wheels holes drilled and a body cavity just like DD4H boxes. The top piece is soft enough I just lay it on top of the two cars.
