Shipping to MidAmerica

So I've registered a scout car for Mid-America, and I'm shipping from Martinsburg, WV to Omaha, Nebraska.

I'm assuming using a flat rate box from the USPS is the best way to ship, with the car secured inside a custom fitted 2nd box, surrounded by packing peanuts. Which size flat rate box should I send? I'm leaning toward Large...

The car needs to arrive on or before April 22nd, that's a Wednesday, what day should I plan to ship my car by?

Does anyone use UPS or FedEx instead?

Do you guys get insurance when you ship a proxy car?

Please no packing peanuts, use bubble wrap, go with larger box ( you will get some swag sent back with it) I would allow 4 to 6 days (more than it would take but just incase)

Johns shipping boxes are best way to ship and ur car will be safer. John also posted a video of improper shipping and what can happen to your car.

2 separate registration pages 1 single shipping address. Just be sure to mark which car is which and it will get placed where it needs to go.

Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance but some guys do add more. Considering how much you have in parts at least is recommended.

I haven't figured out what size box I am going to use or whether to use a flat rate or not. I know I can ship to the event cheaper not using flat rate but I may use a flat rate box and buy the flat rate label for return shipping or just buy an extra 2 lbs on a regular label if it is cheaper.

I have possibly 5 cars to send to Mid-America, so I think a large flat-rate shipping box is the way to go. I don't think they'll be able to fit many other goodies into it on the return ship, though. /images/boards/smilies/frown.gif

What Vk said is true. If this is people's first time and they're sending in cars for scouts, make sure your box is large enough for door prizes and possible hardware. You get A LOT of stuff even if you dont win, so make sure there's room.

If you follow in instructions on the MAPWD Proxy Racing Shipping Page... and print out a Registration Form for each car... it will really make this work well.
