Is there a purpose for the V groove at the back of the Silver Bullet?

Can I use a different sized pin gage back there to lift the whole thing off the table a bit?

Thanks,

Hi John,

I hope all is well and you had a nice Thanksgiving.

The Bullet is awesome! I have learned so much about machining and geometry from it.

It is absolutely the most simple and elegant solution to the problem.

The question that I meant to write was:

Why are there two sets of V grooves? Isn't only one set needed?
The set closest to where the wood goes.

Thanks so much,

One groove for negative cant and the other groove for positive cant ......SPIRIT......

I see. Thanks Spirit.

The reason that I ask is that I would like to use the bullet to drill a car with a body wider than 1.75"

Could I use a pin gage of say .125" in the back groove while using a .25" pin gage in the front groove?

This might lift things enough for me to fit it.
