Does anyone know of an easy way to cut new slots in a BSA block? I have tried the table saw before but I can't seem to find the right width blade. They are always too thick.I've also tried using the band saw but they turn out uneven and look terrible.

I am still pretty new and not as experienced as most of the other racers on here but what works for me is I dont use wood working tools... I use saw blades and sand paper and everything that is used for metal work. For example the teeth on the saw blade are finer, so they may have different thicknesses. Not sure if this will help but it might give you some other avenues to look at...let me know.

Everybody I know uses the hacksaw blade method. One fellow that I know uses a knife to score down to the drilled holes and then uses the hacksaw blade to open it up. That seems to be excessive, but it does work.

Thanks guys

I've used a cheap plastic mitre box for the last couple years. The blade thickness is almost exactly the width of the stock slots. Just make sure to only cut on the back stroke with the saw or you'll shred the block. I think mine was less than $10 at a local big box hardware store.
