i have a new found massive respect for the guys who tune thier cars without a track or timer. I did not have a timer to tune with , so i just stuck with the basics from John's DVD. I tuned as best i could by the sound of the car and making sure i had no wiggles.
I took extra care with axle prep and wheel bore prep. I ran the fastest times I have ever put down. last year as a new guy i thought i would never get a sub 3 time in the Street Stock class, and last year i never did. best i could do was a 3.001. this year right out of the gate i did a 2.985, and i beat every time from last year in every class.
i say this cause as a new guy i know its easy to get discouraged by being last. I have been there, not that long ago. If you stick to the basics and get them down you will quickly find you are right up there with some of upper mid pack racers. Then it gets hard. stick with it and your hard work will pay off. heck, even Kinser and DD4H started out gettin smoked.

I'm a lucky guy. I am by no means in the same class as DD4H. He's the one that gave all of us the foundation of speed that we have now. If you look at last years results, I placed 22nd in June, 16th in July and 18th in August. It wasn't until September that I had a good showing with 3rd. It finally clicked for me. That was almost two years after I started racing. Believe me when I say that most of it is in your head, work smart. This isn't cubs, it's the big time! You guys did great, really great! Congratulations to all of you that have what it takes to race!
