Hello all,
Can you tell me if you've ever seen this to be an issue. Since we got into scouts we have been using stock kit axles. Brand new out of the box every single one over the years measures egg-shaped where the wheel rides and gets more round towards the point. They all measure .082" on the low side and .091" on the high side. Our NSC rules have always stated that axles smaller than .084" are illegal. Even after we debur, groove and polish they are still .082" on the low side so I know we aren't taking much off.

I did see at last year's Council race someone get a wheel weighed and told it was not legal so I'm wondering what happens if someone measures our axles after the races.

good idea. I bought 2 bags of these things from John also and they all match the many I've gotten from the local Scout Shop over the years.

I just heard back from the rule writer actually. He said at least one measurement has to be .084". This is to prevent needle axles from being used.

The NSC rules allow you to run after market axles. Please, for the love of Murphy, Get dd4h 92s and move on to other things. If you want to cut your own grooves get the max velocity basic speed axles which are super cheap, round and very straight. In fact I will give you 10 of these if it means you will stop obsessing over those worthless things that come in the box.

You are part of a progressive council with progressive rules. Why not take advantage of it?
