My son is going to get his pinewood derby! Yes! We went to pack meeting tonight and they announced it. They're going to have it in early Autumn. We have all summer to build a car. I think we may paint again, just for my boy! We need to come up with a killer scheme for the paint job. Wait! He just said "Why paint it?" So, maybe not. I've taught him well. Mmmmmwwwwwhhhhaaaahhhaaahhaaha!
lol

That is COOL Kinser-

Now I would assume we might even see this car run on the track once or twice maybe?? How cool would that be going in with his dad's marker technique... everyone being .. Oh look at that car won't do much.. Then SMOKE THEM ALL!!!

.. can't wait to hear all about it...

Good news. Does your son already help out with your car builds? My boy liked the painting and tuning the most I think. He was pretty proud about the axle and wheel polishing though when he saw how much better the wheels spun.

We know Kinser can kick butt w/oil! How is he with graphite though? Could this be his Achilles heal? Just kidding and congrats!

Thanks guys, he's excited!

The truth is I'm okay with graphite, not great. Out of the last six events we've had starting with the first:

1. Pwd 1st & 3rd

2. Pwd 1st

3. Space derby 2nd

4. Pwd 1st

5. Raingutter Regatta 1st & 2nd

6. Raingutter Regatta 1st

7. ?

Our pack doesn't give out trophies every time. Out of all the 1st place finishes we've won one, and it was the one from the scout shop.

yeah yeah...im OK with graphite.....its all relative Kinser LOL.....your OK is likely better than most others good! Its like when Joel said in few posts leading up to some races last season...."my cars are all slow this time around....or don't look so good this time" or something to that effect....and he still beat everyone LOL....like yourself, his slow and bad times are likely still better than most of our good times HAHA.....where are you Joel.....hehehe....of course that means if you say your good or fast this time....well now everyone else is really screwed!

Im just jking of course....do you already have the rules etc?

Its certainly easier and more efficient using monokote or vinyl or sharpies...looks don't win races....but there is definitely something to be said for making a car with a really nice paint job!....for some reason it just makes it that much more satisfying seeing your son's car on the check in table shining and gleaming with people pawing over it LOL!

Wow! You are quite diverse!

Hey Chris,

You really should have a trophy waiting in the car for the ride home, considering the likelihood of winning, and the possibility that there will not be a tangible representation of the win to display.
Maybe that would jinx it though!
Personally I like to show a certain "truth to the material"
Paint on wood rarely appeals to me.
Congrats to you and your boy.
