Sons Derby Car 2014

Here is a first build with my son for today's race.... Proud of my little guy and the effort he tries to being involved and wanting to do new things.. He learned to use new tools building this car... He liked the table saw part of the build...

Here is a top shot of his car... Got to hate Graphite... that is all the black spots on the car still cleaning but had to get it uploaded...

W ell we will let you all know how it goes this evening... I just want him to have fun today and let dad do all the stressing. We have it tuned using the original slots drilled out.. Arghhh... seems to roll great on a tuning board just hope the wood track is in our favor...

One Proud Dad...

.... Well he wiggled his way thru the race today....

He is a Bear and he swept all four rounds #1 ... He finished #2 overall and he will be going to Districts...

Here is the kicker... The boy that beat him in pack is one of the boys cars I had to help Friday night.. The boy that took 3rd I had to help as his wheel was glued to the car and we broke it loose and it ran slow... The leader allowed me to have some time to fix his car. 10 Minutes later his car was hitting 2 nd place... It took longer as I had asked his dad if I can teach him how to do the repairs and he used the dremel, cut his old glued axle and gained some serious cool dad and son pics as his dad took pics of him fixing his own car!!!

My draw back is I missed most of my sons heats while working on Scouts car.. But the price of missing it was worth the price of this boy finishing and going to districts...

SO I had been able to touch 3 kids in different ways... I had a third boy have some issue and his dad allowed me to help him and he was able to move from last to 6th... SO my day was HIGHER then the clouds...

The boy who came in third asked .. Vic will my car hit the pillow?? As his car stopped before the finish line twice. I said I hope so brother lets see. I got 3 hugs when his car hit the Pillow and high fives all around!!!

I owe everything I was able to do for these guys Thanks to you all here helping me... SO THANK YOU!!!

Only drawback is the car has some serious wiggles bad ones... The leader holds the cars.. Arghhh.. But she allowed them to stay at the Church so the boys do not tear up the cars.... SO I might ask if we can re prep the wheels for the boys and see if we can try and adjust the wiggles out of his car...
