Starting Gate Switch

Just to let you all know that tonight I completed the prototype for the new starting switch. Hopefully John and I will get it tested tomorrow and make the necessary changes.

The Chip Switch should offer some great advantages to the previous items being sold. First off.... It will be available in a very timely manner. I am curious how many out there would be in need of a switch.

Some of the features will include:

low voltage solenoid

power on switch

remote switch

and.............. A wireless remote switch? This option is pricey but has the cool effect. Let me know if you are interested in any of the above mentioned items. This will be ready specifically for Best Track and will be more affordable than one which is on delay by another vendor. Best Track has already agreed to sell this item as well as DD4H. It should be great and the price will be reasonable.

sounds good. The wireless remote has so much "coolness" connected to it, safe way to pass around the start for different Cubs to get a chance to start a race without messing up or tripping over wires, I'm thinking of letting the winner of each race get to start the next race!

I might want a Lojack on it so I can find it after the race.

Maybe I'll just carry it in my pocket and let the Cub drop a flag that magically starts the race.

I would be interetsed in learning more about the system. I currently have a switch I made, that works, but may make a move if it makes sense.

It does give you a lot of options. At our old Pack we gave the remote to the person in Lane 1 to start the race (actually trigger the Light Tree in our case). Usually after a couple of turns, they are encouraged to share that perk with sisters, younger siblings, etc., which seems to keep more kids in the family happy. Optimally, you have all the options available - switch near the gate for the starter to use, a remote switch, computer start and light tree start. That should keep everyone happy, including those tuning on the track.
