Steer changes half way through race....??

Ok, so we had our pack race this morning. We had our car tuned for three inches over 4 feet of steer. The first four races my sons car was super fast. On average it was .04 seconds faster than last years car that won at our Districts. In the finals our first two races were .1 seconds slower and there was some major wiggles. The last two races were .2 and .4 seconds slower than our average on first 4 races. There was a little wiggle but not much.

We get the car home and I put it on tuning board and the car now runs at 1 inch of steer over 4 feet. Is that common for steer to get messed up during the race? I had the axles lightly glued with Elmer's so I could adjust if necessary for districts. Should I use better glue for districts? How do you keep your alignment from getting screwed up during a race?

Btw, my sons car did win the pack, but we will have a hard time winning districts with that much deviation in times.

I'm with Kinser, a stop section can kill your steer if it's a rough one. If you are running the BSA axles, even though they are glued in, turning may not have been the issue. The axle may have straightened out some while coming into the stop section, removing steer out of the car.

Running one Dynasty 92x axle at the DFW may be the solution.

We were running on a 4 lane best track and the stop section was a standard best track stop section. My sons car did go all the way to the end of the stop section and hit the rubber edge. I never thought about the stop section. That must be it. My son thinks it was sabotage since he won it all for three years. He will be glad to know that it was accidental.
