switching cars from oil to graphite for regionals... help/advice needed

That would be cool. Next year I think they are trying to go to the middle of the state. Maybe even the upper middle, if I understood correctly.
The race on April 27 is the state championship. Our regional race on the west coast was a couple weeks ago. They made a point to encourage all podium winners to attend the state race, but I'm not sure if it's a requirement or not. You could ask xjarcher. I think he knows one of the guys that runs it pretty well.
What race on the West Coast are you talking about for AWANA's?

The State race guys are not excluding people who haven't raced in a regional. You will get a better deal on registration if you have been at a regional though. There are only a few (3 ?) regional races in MI so that would prevent lots of people who don't live reasonably close to one of them from attending. We want as many people as possible and have broadened the rules (even allowing that nasty graphite stuff, yick!) to allow more people to qualify. We are working with the SE MI folks as their rules are VERY restrictive and actually prevent winners from being eligible. So come and race! Registration info will be on the FB page soon. The revised rules are there now. I know Jerry from the State and W.MI FB pages pretty well. :)
We best side people refer to the Lake Michigan shore as the West Coast. Once you see it you'll understand.

Moving forward even tho I am not sure I can make the trip to Kent I plan on attending states each year whether I am racing or not. Still not totally sure I can’t make it this year if I place well in Open. Who knows, might even get my butt kicked and not be eligible to race. Lol

I couldn't race in SE MI! I won't use graphite so I'd be slower than if I used oil. I drill my axle holes so they'd accuse me of running bent. I doubt you're going to get beat up there. Your thinking and building is well ahead of those guys who changed the rules. Hopefully the conversation Domino had with them woke them up and they'll let people advance the sport not take it back to the 1950's!

Let’s hope! I plan on getting acquainted with organizers at SE MI regionals and hopefully start a relationship with them so I can help. I hope to track down their info as well before long to get status on the rules change. I really hope they do the right thing.
