Today I held a Test and Tune day for our Pack with the new 35 ' Best Track setup. I had already set the angle to 27.1 degrees before I got there, but I had never set it up all the way. Everybody was impressed with the Lift n Level kit for the track. After getting the track leveled out and setup, I had some folks volunteer to test out the track. One of the cars went flying. 15 minutes later and some lane adjustment in that section, everything was smooth, no bumps and the cars were happy. The car that went flying? Was weighted so far to the rear that rolling on a flat surface with a string on it made it pop a wheelie!!! The kids fell in love with the new K1CS timer I built last night. The ability to see what order they finished was a BIG HIT!!!
Anyway, my son wanted a car to run down the track. His is not finished and I would not let him run his Dynasty wheels without doing a full polish and prep of the wheels and axles. So we grabbed my car, 91SGAs and some stock wheels. The only prep we did was to cut the step out of the hub and add Hob-E-Lube. You can imagine my surprise when I discovered that the car ran a 2.57 !! The other dads got real quiet when I ran away from them. The best car prior to me running the slap together was running a 2.664. The block was drilled with the Block and set for Rail Running. I did not have a bent axle to run with, and I still got that time. My son was thrilled considering that his best time last year was a 2.64 using the Derby Worx tools. So, here is to DD4H, Kinser, 5Js and all the rest of you....THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
Now I have to finish setting up the cars and getting them tuned. Work never ends, but this work is fun.
