I almost have the go ahead to get a test track (for my birthday) from the boss. Will probably get a 2-lane 35’ BestTrack because that is the longest that will fit somewhere where I can leave it up all the time. Was looking around for timers online and found the “DerbyStick” made by NewBold Products. There is no display, only usb interface for a computer. For only $99 you can view times out to 0.0001 on a laptop. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this timer and if it is any good.

I know TRE that the microwizard is the timer of choice for a lot of the leagues and racers, but this track is just going to be set up in my basement so I don't really need the fancy display. And after listening to one of Zeebzob's podcasts, he talked about using the computer interface on the microwizard (I think) to view out to 0.0001 which made sense. That sounds like what the DerbyStick does without the added cost of the display. Have you or anyone else had any experience with the NewBold DerbySitck?

I've not heard of the DerbyStick until now. I think my biggest "hmmm" about the DerbyStick is how you have to provide a light source for it, instead of having it come with its own emitters. This sounds kind of fiddly, IMO.

Given that the Microwizard kit is like, $115.00 for two lanes, I think I'd personally go with that. Or do the miscjunk arduino timer.

I'm a microwizaed guy as well. PWD can take a good amount of $$$; a good timer only makes sense. Having to provide a lamp so that the timer functions seems like a quirky setup. BUT it also depends on how serious you are going to get. You'll also need a good start gate to go with your good timer...

I have a two have 42' but I would be ok with only selling 35'. Bestrack, double stop section, microwizard timer, home built electric start gate, leveling feet I would sell. Located in Western Iowa will be at mid America derby in omaha too. PM for more details
