Hello,

I would like to thank Ed (B-Regal Racing) and crew (t-bone) on here for having me and my 9 year old son over to his house last night to school us on Pinecar building.

I was looking for a track to test 4 cars me and my son built for this Sunday’s derby race and saw by looking through the threads on here that Ed was Iocated within driving distance. I PMed Ed for his recommendation on a track and he graciously invited us to his house to test on his personal test track. B-Regal is a great guy, upon arriving at his house he showed my son several experiments in his garage explaining the science behind a fast car.

Next we were off to the basement to B-Regal’s amazing test track. We quickly found the two fastest cars from the group, one for my son and one for his friend that needed help building his car.

What happened next blew my socks off. B-Regal and his friend t-bone offered to build a ladder car with me and my son. I have been in scouts for several years with my other sons and we have helped a lot of other people, but have never had an offer to show us how to get to the next level building a car untill then. Naturally my son jumped at the offer, this started a pit crew build of a pine car that NASCAR would be proud of. For the next two and a half hours we were shown a totally different way of building a car. Saw dust went flying, wheels were polished, cubes were installed along with every thing from A to Z. The result was the green ladder car below. It was way faster on the track than the fastest of the cars we built at home which untill then was the pinnacle of our building knowledge. My son can’t wait until Sunday.

I would also like to thank everyone on this site for sharing there knowledge, I have been a stalker on here this week reading threads and learned quickly there was so much more to learn. Thank you DerbyDadforhire, I just ordered some more stuff from your site (Ed now has me hooked on the ladder builds).

Sorry about the long post, but anything worth saying is worth a long long time to say.

That's awesome! I wish my son and I had time to go down and visit Ed's place. We just finished his car and we have to check it in tomorrow night. Procrastinators... Ed has given me pointers and sent me a few things to try that have helped my son and I out big time! Congrats again, that bright green looks great and is probably even faster than it looks!

Thanks and good luck to you guys. I am sure your son had a blast making it with you. Time well spent.

That is really cool! What were some of the things you learned? I'm in a similar situation, wondering where I take my building and design next.

That's exactly what I would have expected based on how much Ed has helped others here. Is is both very generous and kind! He deserves lots of credit for helping out MANY new people!

Way to go Ed and T-bone!!!!

Hello, I learned Ed and t-bone are awesome and I am very thankful for their patience and time with us. As a fellow stalker I can tell you search for ladder build on here to get you started. Ducting tape (NOT duct tape) and thin plywood with 24 1/4” tungsten cubes are required. The guys showed us tons of other stuff. I would say the best advice to someone new is when someone offers to help, humbly accept the offer because you might not just get new skills, but new friends as well.

Awe shucks. Thanks for the kind words all....

But if I had more time, we could have really dug into that car. If you ever get the urge, I am always happy to help dive down deeper into the rabbit hole...

Ed, we would love to learn even more and appreciate the offer. Will let you know how the race goes Sunday. Got my eyes on those Chetah wheels. :) Thank you for everything.

Wow what fun and this is great to hear! Make sure to post Sundays results so we can all know what happened.
Good luck!

That’s awesome!!! Congratz to you both!!! I bet the smiles were bigguns! Mission accomplished.
Good job making those fond memories Dave. And thanks for sharing!
