Times kept getting slower

Wondering if I didn't burnish the graphite in enough.

I used pledge and graphite.

Speed was the best on the first run and then every run after was slower.

Could have been the horrible crash box at the end of the track too. Cars where bouncing half way back up the track.

Any ideas?

What was the condition of the track surface? If the wheels were getting dirty, that will affect speed quite a bit.

Hmm, hadn't thought about that.
The track was an older wooden one and could have been dirty.
Looking at the speeds for the other cars, seems like all but one got slower too.

Dirty track as well. When wheels start accumulating graphite and debris they will slow down. You may be able to get your kid a small square from a magic eraser that he can wipe off the wheels quick while on deck or after picking up his car.

Were the axles grooved? If not the car will drop off fast.

No groves in the axes allowed.

What brand of graphite did you use for burnishing and lubrication, out of curiosity?

I wish I hadn't forgot to buy some good stuff from DD4H.
Probably wouldn't be having this much of an issue if, I had.

XLR8 graphite isn't bad. Not as good as johns IMO, but isn't the reason your speeds dropped. It's strange your first run was your fastest. Usually your first 3 are your slowest then you speed up from there. Can you explain your prep process to make sure it isn't your prep as the problem.

Loss of speed is dirty treads or something got bend in an accident.

Axels:
Prepped to 12 K
Forgot! Zero Friction prep too.
Pledge left to dry then excess wiped off.

Wheels:
Novus 2
Red Rocket (twice) 2 hrs dry time
Graphite burnished with the axel.

Wood track. Not sure of length but guessing 35 feet.
First pass was 19.01 mph. Average for the heat was 18.99. Times were 2.189, 2.190, 21.88.
Last race average was 18.93 mph. Times were 2.195, 2.194, 2.198.

Not a huge deal but was thinking it should have been getting faster.

Hoping my DD4H BASX wheels get here in time for Sat!
