More details to follow, pack race this morning, Webelos I finished top of den but gets knocked out in the grad champ race, Wolf scout finished 5th due to wheel rub discovered after race, corrected and car picked up a tenth. Also sore losers around due to me being perceived as "messing" with other peoples cars but I was asked by a parent and the parents gave permission for me to fix a kids broken car due to the fact it would not roll down the track. The sore losers finshied higher than my kid.

I have found it helpful to include in the rules sent out that part of early check in is a low speed test on part of the track to discover if car will roll. If not, Cub or parent can give permission for attempted fix if parent or Cub does not want to do it. Then we rarely have a race situation where parents get angry about any "changes" after racing starts.

To add insult to injury one of the complainers had put a car into the outlaw race, he pulled out because everyone of my kids that was not racing in the cub race as well as myself had a car registered in the outlaw. The complaint was that I had built all the cars, well lets see, I built mine, plus my 3 year old girl, my 5 year old boy and while I cut out the 13 year old daughters she did the rest. If your a sore loser in the outlaw race then you should not even be there to race as far as I am concerned, thats why they call it an outlaw race. What if I had shown up with a electric fan powered or a CO2 powered car, what then is it cheating? If the only rule is 5 ounces max weight but anything goes I fail to see the problem. Now as it appears the cubmaster wants to have all the Webelos build cars with little no parent assistance, I have no issue but my kids does lose interest so I have to finish the car seems like. In the next couple of months we are going to build two cars for next year, one car is going to be using the factory slots and the other will be using drill holes for the axles, but we are going to use the DD4H wheels and axles and my son with me standing over his shoulder and after demonstrating is going to build the car top to bottom, then we are going to tune the car until it is a screamer. We will make sure that it will in no way be parent built. I guess today just burns me up because I spend two hours last night setting up the trak and testing it to make sure it was all fine, then helped run the race today for our pack and another and then took the track down. I helped not just with my kids cars but also cut out 3 cars for a single mom, 1 car for another single mom, and two more cars for a grandmother for her grandsons. In all the cases I got calls just hours before the blocks showed up at my house, I have given advice, people have come over to my house at ten at night asking to help put wheels on, fix broken cars and what not. i have been asked as soon as I walked thru the door to help fix the car because something was wrong with it and put my own cars and self aside to help the other person. 2-3 years ago I helped reduce a car from 6 to 5 ounces while the race was starting to get a tiger cubs car legal to race and we got it done before his heat and at the end of the day he was the winner for his den. But none of the complainers will step in to ask for help or to offer to help the event but they sure want the glory. I work hard and my kids do also and they understand why the cars do what they do. Anyway I should get off the soapbox now.
