Topping a ladder body

I have made ladder bodies the last two years and left the body "topless". I use HVAC tape for the weight pockets and use a printed package label to cover on top and a second tape on bottom. The car is pretty rigid by this point.

Now I am thinking of using balsa wood for a top.

So far my questions are:

Preferred glue? Wood vs. Super glue gel
Is there any consideration when shaping the nose? Or is it just flat?
Any other tips to make this easier?

Thanks.

I’d say super glue gel. The nose should be narrowed a little on the sides, by about 1/8th of an inch.

A good idea would also be covering the whole top of the car in 1/64th inch plywood, instead of just the weight pocket.

Thank you for the response. The derby has been postponed for two months so I have time to think.
