Has anyone ever tried to make tungsten putty? I can tell you from first hand trial and error it is not tungsten powder and modeling clay. I think I will try duct seal next... What's your thoughts? Or, do most of you guys still melt lead and drill out to adjust weight?

Tungsten putty is made from tungsten powder and a polymer binder.

I only know this cause I ain't right bright.

Daddio has the putty on his website for bout 5$, it is the best way to find the fast spot on your car once you have it built. If you newer racers will get your car weighted to around 4.90oz and then roll up a little ball of putty that will get the car up to the 5-5.049 legal weight, and just stick the ball onto the car in different places(provided you have access to a track), and without changing anything, make passes with the car until you find the spot that causes the car to go the fastest, then drill a tiny little spot where your fast spot is, insert the putty and wahlah. You'd be surprised what a huge difference .10oz is worth in speed when put in the right spot. Take care,

This is great advice. It is amazing what the slightest changes will do.

I love the stuff, I have had a small package for about 2 years, it is just about gone now, time to get more. but the small amount i still have is still pliable.

You could try mixing Silly Putty with Tungsten powder. It never dries out but it's messy to mix.

Does it come close to the same density as the real stuff. Are you using fine or course powder?

it does get heavy, but not as much as the real stuff. when you try to pack too much powder into it you reach a point where it starts to get clumpy and kinda falls apart. also, it does not stick like the real stuff. i tried that trick.i ended up spending over $35 on stuff to try and make my own, it is cheaper to just buy it.
