Tuning Table/Board Length?

I have searched and saw a lot of nice boards/tables, and I have read one post that said that a longer table will allow you to have finer tuning adjustment.

How often do you pro's use the area past the 6 foot mark on your tuning table?

I want to build one and I am trying to decide on length, but I have limited real estate for it. With that in mind if an 8' is premium and preferred then that is what i will go with. If the space past 8 feet doesn't get used very often, then perhaps a 6' is the right thing for me?

Appreciate your input.

LOL! I'm to the point where I only use the first few feet. The full length boards are nice for that exact tune point. If you get one of the prints also they look very nice and professional!

Silly question? Do some of you have the DFW hitting the 3" mark or the the Lift Wheel hitting the mark. I've been using the DFW as the point that I want to hit the mark as it rolls 4ft.

This news makes me very happy! I really didn't want to go 8'.

I think I will go the door slab route at 80", not decided on the rest of it yet. I know I want a lip around it so the cars cannot come off - probably with a piece of foam at the end to catch'em.

Whatever starts on the starting point is what you judge the drift from..... If you happened to line up the left front tip of the body on the mark, then you would look for that left front tip to cross around 3"-4" in 4 ft..... or whatever works for you. Most guys would line up the outside front edge of the DFW, but it doesn't really matter what you line up with the starting point just as long as you use that same reference point down the board.
