My son took home 1st place again at the pack derby. His car will be running in this Saturday's race as well. Then he'll be gunning for the top spot at districts that he narrowly missed last year.

The pack uses the same 8 lane best track that will be used at districts. I checked the slope angle with my phone and it is only at a mid-25* pitch. He still averaged a 3.036 time.

I made the custom trophies for the pack:

Trophies are cooler than a fan!! Great job on the win

I would suggest you offer to help setting the track up for districts. I took a closer look at our track this year (yes, I'm the one who built it), and found the exact same thing. When I looked down the start section to the transition, I noticed that there was a bit of a hump there, as the transition is at 27°. I moved the support legs down a little bit until the track looked straight into the transition. Doing this really helped make the track more consistent lane to lane; where time differences between lanes had been measured in the hundredths, it's now down to the thousandths.

Congrats to your boy on the win, and good luck to him at Districts! And those really are nice trophies! Good job!

I helped set up the track. Leveled each section. The legs for the ramp are pretty much set. Thinking back I should have tried extending the leveling feet to bring it up or doubled up the rubber mats they supply with the track. The flat is raised 2ft off the ground with screw on legs and the start gate ends up about 6ft off the ground as is.

By "move the legs down", I meant slide them a little further down the track, as opposed to extending the feet (which, now that I think about it, would be the same thing).

I did look for that at the time but it didn't look like something I could disassemble and reposition quickly. I wanted to get it set up the night before so I could really work with it but that didn't work out with our venue. The whole thing needs work. Some joints only the outside lanes touch leaving almost an 1/8th inch gap in the middle lanes. I did file some burrs off and attempted to clean the whole thing but gave that up after I got done with the slope.
