Ok finally saved up enough to buy myself a 4 lane best track with champ timer. Now I don't have to borrow or be slave to a organization that owns the track. So, what is the ultimate automated starting gate? Are there any mods like wing nuts for the starting stand? Open for suggestions. Thanks

This track is going to be used as an exhibition track at car shows, corporate events, district races for scouts and awanas, and will be the flagship for local PineWoodGarage product sales. I hope to use it to promote derby style racing in my area. I have already made a racing pit cart to store and transport the whole mobile venue. I already use champ timers on several other tracks and are extremely pleased with that setup. I am interested in the Christmas tree light setup and the new direction full motion starting gate. So, I am looking for the ultimate suggestions in extra things that would set my track apart from a standard track setup or basement test tracks.

Here's a link to one posted here in the forum and the picture below.

I'm not here to steal anything. I'm here to promote the sport on the west cost and I have a bit of catching up to do. You guys have set the bar and in order to maintain the quality of that bar, research and development of a quality track setup must be be conducted and I thought the experts in this forum might be of help. If DD4H products have a demand that I can't fill I'll be more than happy to carry them and sell them to local customers. Like some others here I have sold things to offset my racing costs. I'm happy to share any information I can but I didn't think that asking about other peoples products and the experts opinions of them was in violation of any ethical trade agreements. I want to host the best PWD style events with the best PWD products made by the best in the PWD field. I have learned from Wes Mills from Mills Craft. I have talked at length with Greg Dawes aka mid america derby. I have done plenty of research and I'm not currently willing to do proxy racing so I should not be a challenge to anyone here. Now if someone wants to make me a set of dividers I will be willing to buy a set. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Do not misunderstand where Kinser is coming from. He has been around long enough to see guys come here just to launch their own thing then completely go rabid trying to tear the NPWDRL down. I have no problem helping you like I did MA. The only thing I do expect in return is a 2 way street. It is great that you are trying to build up a local scene. It is very hard to do and a lot of people have tried. I am coming to find that there just aren't enough people in the same vicinity that are into pinewood racing enough to make it a hobby. That might be different in your area and I hope it is because getting a good local group racing together is a lot of fun. There is a lot of turnover in the higher levels of racing because it can get get discouraging trying to figure out.

Setting up a track is a hard part and you have to be ultra anal with certain parts to ensure it will come out good. The gate will give you fits because there can be no bounce back or hard hitting starting systems that jump the cars. The joints all must be even or down steps. The track needs to be very level side to side. Last but not least the stop section must protect the cars. If your track tears up the cars you will lose participation.

As with any type of forum out there, if you are new and come on wanting all the information you need it does help to participate some and get to know the guys. If I am right you did race last year didn't you? League racing will help you become an expert in the hobby quicker than anything else you can do. Come to a live race so you can see how it is handled. These are the things that will help you do your local events in a professional manner. The only way to be the best is to learn from the best and then add to it using your talents and skills.

Once again welcome to the forum.

I started way back when with P**R in fact I was here when you started your sites. I have not been able to race as much as I like. I had lost some of my login info I have been registered to this site since 2011 I think. Look for Pinewood Garage with a space between the words. My whole family has been involved in PWD for a very long time even before the BSA came out with the first how to book pre 1982. So I apologize if I came out a little strong.
