I am hoping someone may have or know where I can find a timer for a decent price. Let me know what you have, thanks.

If you just want a timer for cheap Micro Wizard has a cheap timer that doesn't have an enclosure. You can get a two lane for like $130.

I will probably end up buying a new one but I figured it was worth the time to check around first. I know a lot of people are adding lanes so I figured there might be a couple laying around waiting on a good home

I built a four lane timer using an Arduino Uno from plans I found on the internet. Have you considered any DIY options? I don't think I have $100 in mine including the electric starting gate release. I need to add up the receipts. I can provide a link to the plans or pics if you want.

Bracket ,
What is the link for this DIY project ? Arduino Uno caught my eye long ago just wasn't sure how to put it all together !?
Could you help me with this ?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, this is the one I built: http://www.miscjunk.org/mj/pg_pdt.html

I use his test & tune software as well. Handy for taking notes but it only records one sensor time even though it displays all lanes. I run the whole thing on a $25 Windows XP laptop I bought off craigslist. It'll support up to six lanes or six sensors in one lane if you want, and an electric start gate. You can use it with Grand Prix Race Manager software also, same program the NPWDRL uses. I did not use the Adafruit displays, my times all display on the laptop screen or I can plug in a video cable and have them display on a TV screen. His updated software now displays down to .0001 seconds.

I never worked with an Arduino before building this. It really was pretty easy. All the wiring schematics are there to build it. If you have any questions, just ask! I have pics of most of it if you need them. Stephen

I really like how the software is set up for saving notes during tuning. Maybe not perfect, but much more oriented to the enthusiast, as opposed to focused on race results.

Yeah, I wish it had the option to record all lanes. that would make my life easier when I'm using the incremental sensors. I just write down the times and transfer them to an Excel spreadsheet later. It works out fine, I have a column that multiplies my track correction factor so I can see what I think it would have ran on a 42' track.
