Weird steering

I have been doing my best to follow the acronym K.I.S.S

However, as my mind wanders and I try to keep it reigned in, I realize that I will never have time to even make all of these ideas, let alone test them.

As I have been known to overcomplicate things, I appreciate any input from you guys. (seriously)

I am fascinated by the steering mechanism that 5 Kids came up with and I wonder about a ball and socket joint there. Whereby the "axle body" is the ball and locked down into the socket with a couple of set screws.

Another idea is to have the steering all the way in the rear.
This would be a joint near the COM that could pivot (left /right) for steering.

Thanks,

Laserman, that's a really good idea! You could really dial a car in with a setup like that. The ball and socket has a lot of potential, especially if it could be contained in a small housing with the set screw adjusters on each axis. Bet Goat could machine one in his sleep.

Lol! Eccentric, I just knew that you would be chiming in on this topic. Great photo. Man! That cat is really into the PWD. In the light of day I think I can see what you are getting at with your own weird alignment technique.
Yup, I bet it would take Goat all of a half hour to pop out something like that. I might try something like a gimbal set up.
