Wheel bore prep help.

Hello, I'm a newbie to the forum and would like to start off by saying thank you in advance for any advice, tips, and responses that I receive. This site is really awesome! I know legends is preferred for wheel bore wax, but i'm having a tuff time getting my hands on it. One of my buddy's has a can of that Liquid Glass that you can get at advance auto. I've had a couple of people tell me that it would be ok to us it in the place of legends. Could someone with some experience in this please help? Also, I'm ordering my krytox from DD4H tonight, anybody have an opinion as to which of his lube is best, the hater sauce or his krytox + special blend?

I'm new to this also but I will tell you I used liquid glass on my bores, gigaloo on my axles and krytox. My times improved by about .04.

For $30 you can't go wrong. Would cost you a lot more to source all your own prep components.

Thanks for the reply. That's really nice to know, you put my mind at rest a bit. My son has council championships this weekend and I really want to see him do good. He took 1st place at both the pack derby and districts. We've been having a blast building are cars this year.

This is what you need; DD4H's
Black ice Extreeme wheel bore polishing kit
Zero friction axle polishing kit
Hater sauce
You will need some Jig-a-loo or Duponts chain saver to go with the oil process. Most everyone runs the jig & i'm sure if you need some, someone will chime in with an excess supply that will sell you a can.
This is what I run & the longer I run it the faster I get.

I've tried and had success with all of them. I'm still learning Hater Sauce, but my kids won their Pack and District races with it. I really liked Rocket Fuel when I began racing pro last summer.

Better hurry if you're going to prep by this weekend. The bore sealer generally should sit and cure overnight. And you have to get it there first.

Just talked to john, said I should have it before the end of the week. Would it be ok to prep a set a wheels with the liquid glass since cutting close on time. I just nervous I won't have enough time for the black ice kit.

Prep a back up set just in case, the liquid glass will be fine it's just not as good as the Black Ice.

I think stainless steel 93 axles is what would be BEST. But go with the nickel coated grooved axles even if you have to wear through the nickel plating to get them mirror smooth.

I figured the stainless were the best. I don't have them, I have the stock BSA and a set of grooved axles. I don't think I'll have time to get the stainless. I'll polish the carp out of the grooved for now. Thanks,

If you need to use bsa axels Polish away, but use 2500 and up. Do not make the axels any smaller if you can help it. When I have my box stock axel ready to race, they do not have the best shine, but have just a little shine. Leave the bumps on the shaft, just take the bumps off the head.

Why do you leave the bumps on the shaft? Is that where the axle rides on the bore?

I thought all burrs and bumps needed to be removed and then polished to a mirror finish to reduce friction on stock axles.
