Wheel Noise

Just how quiet should the wheels be? When I spin them after they are fully prepped installed on the car with oil, I hear a fluttering noise when they are spinning on the axle away from the axle head. When I turn the car vertical and spin the wheel so it is riding on the axle head they are almost completely silent.

One issue in my prep - I noticed a burr on the out hub of the wheels. I had a difficult time getting the burr cleaned since the whole is so small. I ended up twisting some 4000 grit paper and inserting it into the bore and working it around until that burr was clear.

Please comment on the noise and any bore prep advice that may help me out.

Little noise usually means good work.

Sounds good to me.

the flutter sound maybe the wheel moving side to side slightly. As long as you don't hear any ticking sound your good. Generally the more quite the better.

ODD, just making an observation of your statement.

If the car is set up correctly, the inner hubs, ideally, should not make contact with the car at all. The rear wheels migrate outwards and will likely not touch the body, unless swaying. The DFW steers into the rail and it may have inner hub contact, just the nature of the beast here, as the car is steered.

I'm going to assume it was a typo and you meant outer hubs.

Nope, I said it correctly. Reading his statement, I took it as he held the car so that the inner hub was touching the body since he said it was away from the axle head. He then stated he turned it over on its end so the outer hub rode the axle head and it was silent. I could be wrong in how I interpreted his initial statement, but that's what I got out of it.
