Can you buy wheels with just the first polish step done and no wax? I have a couple different waxes I would like to try on wheels that have been polished by a vendor who can do it better than I can.

Or just buy them pre done and use dawn to clean the wax out on the ones you want to try something different but I think it's like a additional $20. Or just do them yourself.

Work on your polishing on some stock wheels until you are comfortable with the process. Much cheaper than ruining a good set.

I've never had good luck with any wax on the wheels !
lol
hmmm

Any body else have this same issue?

I've only tried a handful of waxes, but no, no problem switching them out. I clean the bores with 90% IPA and go to town.

Wax (waeks) slang. To defeat decisively; drub. "We waxed the competition".

Yeah, I'd say he waxes!

I don't. It doesn't mean that I haven't. And I had a hard time stacking stuff in wheelbores. ☺

KGL - polishing wheels are probably the one thing I need to really work on. I think if a person can do good wheel prep over and over, you can beat a lot of racers. I have a bunch of old wheels that I have practiced on to try and get my polishing/waxing method down. Doing lots of wheel bore polishing/waxing is something that practice makes perfect.

Okay... so on the topic of wheels.....

When I remove my wheels from a car, I will wash them with a car wash soap... and have always waxed them again before putting them back on.

Do y'all do the same? Or do you not find it necessary to re-wax (depending on the inspection of the wheel)?

And another question... How often do you guys go back to step one (Q-Tip polish)?

I've got a question, the top guys (ones who are constantly in finals) how often do you all put new wheels on (on average) every race, 2,3?
