i am working on my 2012 MOD car, i got a block of prototyping material from work, not sure what it is, but is is very hard and machines great. i am cutting 2 channels in it 1/4" wide and deep to insert pine to hold to axles. i love the way it glows when polished. i cut and squared up a slab today after work and got the weight pockets milled in and channels cut for the pine axle holders. the front wheels are very far back compaired to most mods, but i think i can make it work.
i will update as the build progresses.

Looks like you might could plane the whole thing down about an 1/8". If after completion of the body you find it is too heavy you could always mill out the middle and fill the void by gluing in some balsa. I believe that will make a great looking car. How stiff is that stuff?

thanks guys, the stuff is very stiff!
the front end will be a narrow old F1 style.
i will be making it thinner, it will be 3/8" when done.

That looks like REN modeling plastic that we use where I work. We use it for master models for carbon and fiberglass tooling. I have machined a few models out of it before. It looks really nice when it's polished out. You'll have a nice looking car.

thanks! i will be unveiling it at the CFC race ( FEB league race.) i am still working on it. will post some updated pics on Sunday.
