Will a vinyl cutter work for stencils?

I have done it in the past and it works pretty well. My white "X" team car has vinyl letters (not the red X that was paint) but the black letters were vinyl. The thing is that I use automotive clear coat over it so it cannot peal and there is no hard line from the vinyl. It is flat as glass. However, you may not need to clear them as long as you have a good clean surface to stick them to. Good luck cant wait to see it!!!

I have had some luck by doing the following...

My wife has a cricut machine.

I stick some Frog Tape down on the cricut mat.

I use some spray adhesive to stick some paper over this.

Then, I have my wife cut the design on the cricut. You can use this as your stencil.

However, the model master paints seem to have a hard time and it messes up the paint. I have some success with model master paint using "delicate frog tape" the yellow stuff.

I've heard one of the keys though is to spray your color. Apply your stencil, spray base again to seal the edge, then spray your stencil color.

SoGone,

Nice to hear from you. My youngest son and I just finished our derby's this year in two packs. His pack split but the new one is not chartered yet so he got to race in both races :-). He wants a cobra themed design on his car next year so we are looking for stencils ahead of time. It will be his last race next year.

I am kicking around racing again. I miss the great company.

In the packs we went undefeated and both cars were riding on some very special Pine Wood. :-)
