So true.

No guarantees when you are up against the best and brightest.

It probably helps one to get a foot in the door for their first race, and see what a fast car looks like up close.

After that the person will have to re prep.

John,

Please include "participation ribbons" with the cars upon return.

This way every one of us will be a winner!

It looks vintage BR.

For some reason I thought that sissy-fication was a new trend.

Kinser take yellow snow and melt it and use for lubrication./images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif

Sounds like advice that i was giving by very good pro so MUST b a secrect.

Murph always claimed to be onto some next step stuff.

Maybe you can dig up some of his ramblings to unlock another key to speed /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif!

This might be helpful for you guys that don't paint your cars like me (and like Kinser).

I seal the entire car with CA glue and sand it smooth before putting any covering on. I don't think this helps necessarily with speed - but it does add a lot of strength and durability to the car. My cars also stay a consistent weight no matter what the weather. There was one district race a year ago where the weather was extremely humid. Many cars were overweight and people were complaining that the scales were off. But our cars weighed exactly the same as ever.

Thanks for the tips guys. Keep 'em coming! /images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif

Why would I use the melted snow when I can get pure yellow from the source? /images/boards/smilies/tongue.gif

When someone says "CA Glue", I think of generic super glue, something like Krazy Glue or Loctite Super Glue, but sealing a car in the stuff could be costly and could cause your fingers adhere to just about everything and anything. I also hear people use CA glue for fenders, and in rare cases, as a lubricant. For fenders, I typically use Elmer's wood glue (or something similar) and reinforce it with Bondo, which makes for a nice smooth transition from fender to body (probably does nothing for speed, but the car has to look pretty as well).

What do you use for CA glue?

I use the Gorilla glue Super glue that has a ten second work time. I've glued metal pieces together and could not break them apart with a hammer. I had to soak it in acetone for a day to get it to dissolve enough to come apart.

I use the medium body Stick Fast brand that Rockler sells.

If you put a small plastic bag on your finger to apply the glue it lessens the chances of sticking your fingers together. But you still have the risk of sticking the bag to your person. So be careful IT'S GLUE!

I use Hobby Town's in house CA glue. Two types (Thin and 20 sec). Then I use Wax paper to glue things on. Also I use the wax paper to rub the body/Thin CA glue over the car. Hows that go? "Smack it up, flip it, rub it down!!!" - in living color lol
